While it looks like a great boat generally, if you launched where I do there'd be a very high chance of the sail getting caught aback and snagging or tearing on the centreboard.

It's great that we have these amazing boats; personally my issue is with those in ISAF, the media and the industry who imply that craft like these are "the future of the sport".  Since they are impractical for most sailors and most areas, if this is the future then the sport will shrink dramatically.  And if there's anything that the enormous leap in sailing speeds over the last few years has shown us, it's that going much faster does not create more sailors.

Launching any light weight boat can be tricky, so I'd not expect this one to be easy in the conventional sense, being narrow and having lots of bits sticking out all over the place.

I guess looking at the Launch Video 'cut'... Launching isn't as seamless as the design team would have you believe. Which begs the question, why?

It's still class legal with a smaller sail...

You spend what you want. Last competitive season I did cost of £700 for a new sail and some bits of string - got a few podiums too.

... and sometimes it's just easier to get a rotational sail going a bit earlier than the cambered ones.  Although I'd admit cams do help with planing through lulls.

I've more of less quit using my 7.3 and 8.4 triple cam sails now... a 7.8 rotational covers both.

As someone who has spent a lot of time using camber induced windsurfer sails (and has had the luck to be able to talk to AMAC and other sail designers) IMHO it could perhaps be said that they are more efficient for a low drag high apparent craft.  A windsurfer-style sail on a dinghy doesn't normally generate the extra lift that is needed to drive the bigger hull of a dinghy, and the lower drag of the windsurfer sail is not as important on dinghies.

Camber induced windsurf sail, which is what this appears to have, is far more efficient than a Phantom sail.

Also if the weight is anywhere near the current foiling moth - circa 35kg all up iirc - then it will easily get 100kg on the foils with a 7.7m2 rig. I'm guessing the wishbone boom arrangement will add stabilty to the rig as well

Doubt it would foil sub 10knts but, given enough wind, it will happen LOL

These are about 45kg I think.

did anyone watch the video; the designer was indicating that there's £100,000 moths out there

I realise that there will be alot of development cost in that, but even so
