Hello, I am relatively new to sailing but I do have at least thirty days sailing experience. I am not a member of a team at the moment and I am trying to find a Boat and team that I can perhaps race with on for Cowes week. Even if it is just for one day/race, any help will be appreciated.

Thank you!
Jodie

1) Cowes week website crew search forum.
http://www.aamcowesweek.co.uk/web/code/php/main_c.php?map=cw15&ui=cw1&style=std&override=&page=crewappends&section=forums&FORUM_topic_id=6

2) dock walk in the morning around Shepards/Cowes Yacht Haven/ East Cowes marinas. Bring your own boots & oilskins.

3) for day boats, hang around the island sailing club pontoon. Stick your details up on the ISC notice board.

The best chance of a crewing spot is to hang around in the Pier View until silly o'clock making sure that you don't get so drunk that you forget that you agreed to do bow on a very wet lead-mine on the windiest day of the week after the last bowman was lost in an unfortunate incident in Inferno's or the Mount Gay Party.

Short of that I would say the most likely place to find a spot is at HYS because most of the crews who are sailing from Cowes will be staying there and will have booked a house for the week etc. This normally means that they have a full crew for the week because the commitment of a house for the week normally means that they have tried to fill all the beds. The Hamble crowd tend to be the ones that have empty spots for the week and so haven't booked a house in Cowes as there was some doubt as to whether they would have enough crew anyway. If you were to wonder around Hamble the weekend/week before cowes then you would find a spot in about 2 hours.
