Afternoon all,

Just wondering if anyone else is struggling to get on the PYS online website?  I can load the page but my login is coming back as not recognised.  Also the latest file uploads mentioned on the home page are not recent at all.  I know the RYA were making updates a month or so ago but i would have thought it would be back up by now.

Talking of which, is it possible to see the data, or do you need to be a club official to do that?

You need to be a club official (or at least have the username and password) to see the returns and the numbers generated.  There is the opportunity to print off an RYA approved certificate when the confidence factor gets high enough but otherwise most of the data (graphs etc) is best viewed online.

They changed over from the old Sail Racer site just after the Dinghy Show.
I e-mailed them and Debbi at the RYA replied that they are transferring everyone's data to the new website. I still can't get in either so it may be a bit of a slow process.

Glad it's not just me then!

I did get an e-mail from Bas Edmonds saying they were transferring all the details and would let me know when the account was reactivated, but that was a month ago so presumably there have been 'issues' and it's taking a bit longer than expected.

I seem to remember seeing somewhere or other that we might be able to see other club's data as well as our own on the new site, but I can't remember where, does anyone know if this is actually the case or have I just imagined this?

So, I finally got onto the the new PYS page and checked the data for my club. I noticed that for some stupid reason I had all the RS boats named with a space between RS and the numbers and then I had another set of results with RS no space and numbers.
Now on the old system (Sailracer) you could just rename the offending class with the correct name and it would re-compute. Unfortunately the new page is difficult to understand and ridicoulously slow.

If others are finding the new site awkward, please let the RYA know otherwise nothing will be done to fix it.

So far I can see no benefit of having moved the site and actually some of the functionality is less usable than it was before, and it wasnt exactly brilliant then!

Ah! Glad that's not just me, I have the same thing with RS classes. I can't get the two sets of data to merge either!

On the manage class page you can sort all of it out, took me about 5 min to sort all of our classes out so i'm not sure what's happening with yours?
As i understand all of the data which has come accross from the old system has reverted to it's original input.

As you can see from the picture below, we had multiple variations for the N12 all i did was click on the drop down menu to get them all the same (really quick)

This isn't really the place for lessons on the PYS but for a starter:

Go to the "manage classes" page. Then decide if you want to use the name either with or without a space from now on, so either RS600 or RS 600. For example, and assuming both are in as 1/U/0 if you want to use RS600, go to the line that says RS600, then select the drop down option which says RS600 (both without spaces). Then find the line that says RS 600 (with a space) and select the drop down option to say RS600 (without space). Now when you run a report you will only get one line for RS600 which will have had the RS 600 amalgamated.

Hope that makes sense. The new site is better than the old one but appreciate it is different so will take a little while to get used to. There are some nice features such as if you click on a graph next to the class in PY summary you can then see any odd results that might be skewing your suggested number. If you click on the point on the graph it takes you directly to the race in question so you can see why the results may be odd. Oh and the confidence factor now goes to 0-1 as it always should have. You can choose specific dates to run custom reports between, and you can finally link club data (need to ask the other club via the RYA before being able to do it though so cant just select any club and see their data with a max of 10 linked i think).

If anyone has any other questions please PM and I'll do my best to answer (I didn't make the website but have been trying it out for a couple of months now).
