For taking care of knees and hips...the Hadron by a long chalk. When the new boat comes out this summer with a built in thwart, you'll be able to throw away the knee pads too....

Assuming no trapeze, then downwind a lot of boats have some kneeling and if you are sitting on your legs any physio will tell you thats dreadful for your knees so the best boats are the ones you don't have to kneel on the floor with.

The aero has a very good hiking position, knees are standing up very well, but thighs made to work.

Whilst you have to hike asymmetric, at least you lose the kneeling.

Two people who have had knee opps recently have bought K1's so we will see how that goes.

For me however the D-One is by far the most knee friendly singlehander.  After sailing one three times there was never even a twinge next day. Even in the very light you can crouch with your backside half on the front support of the wing.  Super comfortable boat all round although it is a physical boat as the kite is quite big to get up and down and you are required to swim....especially at the start.

Nice thing about Byte (I would say this wouldn't I). Quite narrow so when sitting on side decks you just lean in. No kneeling. In lightning kneeling all the time.

Solo for knee friendliness IMO. Laser - never as soon as your quads and core tire (which they do quickly unless you are superfit) all the pressure goes to your knees.

The D-Zero is seriously comfy but crouching is sometimes required when deep off the wind or running. Not as bad as kneeling but still not the armchair levels of comfort that some might want.

Another vote for the D-One . Thinking about it, the Finn hasn't caused any knee irritation at all yet either - comfy on the bum with that cushion, and super-thick, hyper-adjustable toe-straps help. 'Kin hard on the quads, mind

If your bum is on that cushion, I think I know why your knees are fine.

I'm guessing the toestraps don't have enough adjustment for you to actually get your arse over the gunwhale ;-)
