Combination of dubious business practises (when you change distributor you should take over his stock if you don't want your market trashed) and usual new boat malevolence from the PYAG have screwed that class, which is a shame, since it is an excellent boat.

Such a shame, that'll kill what is actually a fantastic and underrated boat. Buy it and just enjoy some really great sailing. Would've kept mine if I had a regular crew. As nice as a Merlin to sail.

Just without the bandit handicap that makes the Merlin what it is...

Precisely.... And out of devoti's hands no one has a clue what changes, alterations and personal improvements the class may have to tolerate interfering with its perceptions, potential handicap and ultimately, depreciation.

Good option for a frankenboat though.... Needs a wire and a kite obviously.

Having sailed the Icon at Hunts a few times while it was here on demo if I had the money (and a regular crew) I would snatch his hand off. It was a lot of fun.

The only problem would be choosing which boat to sail each week......

Boat is suntouched old demo boat, icon has moved on to another builder.  Suntouched need the space and asked me to help move on stock which is not within their core business.  Someone will get a bargain!  They also have a brand new never used full race spec optimist that's only £1600!

Suntouched will not sell new icons and there was a bun fight over them selling them full stop.  So what's the point in holding on to stock of a class which they don't sell, ultimately it's a business.

I liked it more than the Merlin - simple speed, no cluttered up class rules.

Could it be that a Devoti demo boat isn't much use when Rondar are now building the boat?

Has to be said, though, that when even I'm interested, prices must have plummeted.

Perhaps Grumph could buy it and weigh it down with a kite and a trapeze?
