everyone needs fully canting, adjustable on the fly rigging Noah, all led back under through the double hull.... why in god's name would you been one of those guys who works on '4th hole down' for everything and assumes the sh*t start was the real 'issue'.... again. ;-)

/Warning: Pedantry alert!
The chain plate is the bit fixed to the hull [/Pedant] to which the shroud is attached by a variety of means.
These means include string on Merlins, 5o's and some Furballs; a stainless vernier plate on other less exotic boats - including my 'Ball. Bottle screws probably in the CVRDA boat park, but if they work, what's to complain about?
I'd love to see / hear Graeme's alternative solution.

Hmm let me think of just one of a thousand better ways. Snowboard binding style click ratchet for one,
A better executed Stamaster style system for another if you feel like being traditional, Index gear change from a mountain bike beefed up.. Flip up gate with row of hooks... Adjustable 'muscle box' style arrangement.. there are any number of better ways. Fiddling around with a bloody  cir clips in freezing cold weather, I bet some of you lot have to put your glasses on to do it. LOL

Me neither - its an age thing. Its why I step on my glasses in the boat park Angry

The solution, plainly is to sail a two-man boat with a young crew who CAN see LOL

Sorry Noah been there done that but young crews are often more frustrating than split rings, but not as reliable.
Graham

Yes, it's detailed back there a bit ^ loved it, but for a few new boat teething issues, puts me right in the mix on the lake, not so sure I'd prefer it over the EPS's longer legs on the sea, maybe on a rough water day when it's howling, could see it being a very competent sea boat, then again I'd be racing with the Lasers which could be fun.

Actually when I come to really think about it if the day ever dawned when I was forced to have just the one boat to do everything I do, this would probably have to be it. Which of course would make it the final solution. LOL
