My point is that if you have a singlehander as a 2nd boat do you really want the phaff of looking after spinnakers, replacing control lines and elastic take-ups and paying fairly hefty insurance premiums?

Ah I see your point regarding it being a second boat. I just presumed there were sailing folk up and down the land living in normal sized houses having to deal with such matters on a regular basis. (Not me thankfully)

I used to stick the 505 kite into the loft hatch and drape down the bannister when I lived in a small mid terrace in Lymington. Pre monster days.
Do it overnight and be up first to remove it in the morning avoiding grief.

I heard there's a bit of a fleet of Aeros developing over at Downs, 7 or so ordered, they're certainly getting established up and down the country..

I think we had 7 out yesterday and the racing is just soooo close! One change here or there and you're past, one small mistake and you're losing places.

Does anyone have any idea how many Aeros and D Zero's have been sold in the last 12 months? It must be quite a lot by now. I wonder what percentage of new boat sales they make up?

Funny that.....1 design racing, everyone with the same equipment...just like the ethos of a 40 year old class that has lost it's way....

All of them probably..

What other class is doing any numbers in new builds?

Can't imagine there are many Lasers being sold.

How about that deal they had on the Byte has that generated any sales volume for Hartleys I wonder, wish they did something similar for the Supernova, then again it's another full batten thing, not sure I want full battens in a dinghy.

That's the key I think other than the light weight, both *eros have soft sails, makes shift hunting that much more pleasant.

20 Bytes my boy! The trouble is that at least 6 of those boats are existing owners replacing older kit. But still it puts more boats out there. I keep telling you.....just get a Byte!

iitick,
I just checked for you;

In 7 months of deliveries since July, the 275th RS Aero will be delivered this week.
A further 410 RS Aeros are on order.
Plus sales currently being processed gives about 700 sold Worldwide!

This week and next RS Aeros are being packed up for delivery to Holland (6), West Coast USA (14 all pre sold!), Florida/East USA (6), Auckland NZ (3), Germany and the 3rd batch to Australia...all whilst continuing to service the keen UK demand...

Exciting times....and almost too much to write about!

(edit; 7 months, miss counted)

Jeffers

Of course that is true about any one design, but being half the weight of the laser means that everything happens that bit quicker, its real nip and tuck stuff.
