Fireballs take first five places
Wowser, can't recall that sort of domination in a big mixed fleet event for a while

Results are currently after day 1 [race 1 2 3]. Race 4 is the non discardable pursuit. Overall results prob not much different at the top end.

As 4 of them were in the top 10 at their Nationals and the 5th is the current world champion its not very suprising...Fireballs are notoriously good in those sort of conditions.

It looks like the Fireball is the boat to be in at the moment. There are some big names in them.
What makes the so popular?

Could also say alot for the experience of the crew - the 29er would have had a couple of teens aboard compared to the decades of experience in those fireballs

would say that having one of if not the largest fleet of fireballs in the country at the club it would be due to several reasons and in no particular order (i haven't sailed one for years) the national circuit attracts top teams the local circuits are fun the boats are easy to sail but the level of competition makes them a challenge they practically point into the wind with the kite up in a gale making them good for RTC handicap racing |
