All these first times carry the same buzz, from a child making a Topper to where they want through  countless others, three sail reach from the wire, hooking into a windsurfer, ...................... to the foiling Cherub.

I know it's great, I think Clive Everest son must only be about 12 or 13? Young anyway for that kind of boat.

Wonder where this is, interesting talking about how sailing will change over the next couple of years.

Currently small clubs (non for profit organisations) turnover a few thouasand a year.

This must be a big club and mariner!

Some clubs (Grafham, Rutland and the like) are professionally run (their fees reflect this).

Other clubs are volunteer run, their fees also reflect this.

As a member of a smaller club I know we turnover around £30k a year so having full time paid staff is not an option. Most people who join the club though are more than happy to give their time to help run the club of achieve a specific goal. For example at the moment we are exploring buying the freehold for the lake we sail on. The club has a couple of people who work in that area and are giving their time and expertise for free.
