it's just all the more obvious in this day of event pre-registration with open information on who's registered and in what boat.

I've equally seen a heavy weather forecast and someone turn up with a
420 only for the wind to drop just enough so it didn't pay for them.
The best event double stacker i saw was a 49er and 29er with the owners
picking the appropriate boat for the wind strength. If you have the
money then fair enough.
I don't really see an issue, we're all there to enjoy ourselves if the choice is between feeling miserable being massively over/under powered and struggling or just having a good days sailing then why would you choose to have a rubbish day on the water? Equally it doesn't impact on PY (due to the nature of a pursuit race) and doesn't count towards qualification for the series then theres no issue with it. |

were i fit and in practice I would chose the contender for a windy event and the d one for a light to medium event. That's what would be most fun and I can't see any thing wrong with doing that. And yes, I am lucky to be able to choose.

OK, my mind has been changed by you all - if I ever go again I'll take a
Lightning for the calm and a Topper for when it blows. Actually, I
should have done this the only time I did go - I got totally blown away
by the huge, black cloud squall which came through.

Anyone else find it strangely ironic that from a group that normally espouses the 'fairness' of class racing we get a totally different attitude to cheating a handicap series by using multiple craft to suit the conditions. Probably exactly the same type that would vehemently vote against any changes to their particular class that might suit a particular body group in a particular type of conditions.
It's madness of course, quite a complex form of it I'd guess, not sure what the group diagnosis would be something in between Schizophrenia and Split personality disorder I should think. Edited by iGRF - 12 Jan 15 at 6:19pm |

Entries (afaik) for the SailJuice series are by boat, not sailor so for example my boy has done Datchet in the D-One, Oxford in the Finn and the BM in a Laser, but these results will not be combined for the series, |

Graeme - the handicap series is second fiddle to the individual events mate. Some of these events have been around long before sail Racer, Sail Juice etc
Hence why In its short lifetime people who are normally hyper competitive have been prepared to bin off their win as they can't be arsed to defend it in the face of any controversy that sorrounded them at the time. It's a worthy enough endeavour - aimed at a bit of cohesion - but don't try and make more out of it than it is. Edited by turnturtle - 12 Jan 15 at 6:40pm |

It's clear that some of you need to learn to read!
As jimbo says, the boat is entered into the series not the helm, and it's 4 out of 8 to count. As for PY that's been clarified to. Pursuit races are not used in PYS so will not affect py for a given class. Edited by craiggo - 12 Jan 15 at 8:23pm |
