They are indeed.

You strike me as a gent of a certain age ... your grand children (or carer) have done well showing you how to use a forum but the full impact of the internet on things has probably yet to fully reach you  Wink

Consumers now have a voice and companies need to listen and take note as the internet gives us all a platform.

Anyway, we understand this issue is limited to a shipment to overseas dealers so we wont expect any Aero consumers to be posting photos like the one below in future months.

What boat is that BTW (that stands for By The Way JimC ... Wink)

Have seen this argument used before and find it mildly condescending. It's a forum, people dip in and out all the time and comment when and what they want. That's it, there's no compulsion to do any more. Just because someone doesn't start threads doesn't mean that they cannot make a relevant comment.
Also just because a comment disagrees with something doesn't mean a thread is " shouted down".
Condescending, maybe or maybe not Duncan.  That's facts are that you have not posted anything which leads to debate.  Just comments like I will get the biscuits.  Which by its very nature is condescending of others views and by your point their own ability to have a discussion.  So, there we have it.  Just because others do not like what some people post, doesn't mean they have the Devine right to try and close a debate because it does not suit their own agenda.  Like I said.  If you want to talk about something else then start a thread about something.  It doesn't even have to be about dinghy development.  How about what the clouds look so beautifully fluffy?  Or the virtues of different mainsheet setups?  Maybe ask about what techniques people use to get the most out of their sailing?  I don't know everyone has opinions and posting styles.  It's completely upto the poster to decide what they write if anything at all.

Even as  Solo sailor, I was  excited to read the news about the D0 and Aero. Aesthetically, the D0 looks like the dog's whatsits. While I did not warm quite as readily to the design of the Aero it  sure looks to be a total blast to sail (from the videos).

The average Sunday club sailor like me who is proficient enough racing their boat on a Sunday down at the club is never destined for greatness due to a total lack of talent and and limited time. They want something that is relatively simple and not super hard to sail while remaining exciting. Forget Mustos and RS300's. Great as they are, I know that I for one would spend far too much time swimming. The D0 and Aero look brilliantly conceived for club sailors.

Here we are, after years of complaining about the limited number of alternatives to the Laser and two two very commendable options emerge.  Cue Hallelujas? Well to a point, yes but mixed with a surprising level of cynicism, negativity and undermining.

The  builders deserve great praise for bringing these boats to the market. I am always keen to read about people's personal experiences of sailing boats and I am interested to read constructive and considered criticism as well but please let's keep it that way because the other stuff is a total turn-off.

This needs quoting and pulling back to the top of the thread!m what a great post.  I completely agree with everything you have said.  For what it's worth and for the 100th time I have no problem with the aero as a boat.  I'm sure it will continue to sell well and may it offer those that have bought them many happy hours sailing 99% of us that have adopted either new class are not going to ever be world champions.  In my opinion both new classes will find their feet and spaces in the market.  It already looks like they are very much in different directions.  It really is something to be celebrated that two manufacturers are willing to offer alternatives in such a long establish successful market space as the laser, solo, supernova etc.  as for racing together it's a nice thought, but not something that's likely to happen as both look to have the necessary momentum in terms of sales to build fleets.

The thing that really does it for me is the ability to go sailing in any weather and not worry about laying a mark with a kite or killing and Oppy sailor at 20kn!  But also enjoy light wind sailing again something I have actually missed in the years of sailing 'fast' boats.  Next year I can sail my zero at my local river club again.  I can then in 35 minutes have it packed away and tow it to Paignton for the posh regatta or abersoch, safe in knowledge that the antichrist that is windguru will not ruin my sailing by racing a boat which enjoyment can be somewhat polarised.  So for that I thank both RS and devoti.

The clouds aren't looking very fluffy out of the window right now. Slate grey with horizontal squalls of rain comng out of them. Lovely sailing weather...

It was looking pretty grim in the Forest of Dean today whilst out on my bike.  I avoided the rain but got covered in mud none the less!  Fantastic!

None of that relates to the designs of the Aero of D0; as you say both look like fun boats to own & sail.

The cynicism is more around some of the marking tales we have been fed and some of the social media management ....

What happened to Orange?
Successfully confusing ambition with ability since 1980.

I completely agree with your last sentence.
As to the rest of it. Well....... I think we had better agree to disagree on that and let it rest.
