For what its worth, if my new boa turned out to be one that had split it would not bother me one bit.  As long as the join had been expertly re-glued.  I guess I am pretty easy when it comes to this sort of thing though.

That's Null quote Jim, not mine.

But yes, that's a good explanation.  I guess now it's been mentioned, they might as well make the video public again.  After all doesn't it demonstrate the chain of support one can expect from RS and their approved dealer network?

It's a far cry from 'not my problem guv' when I unwrapped a custom built windsurf board with transit damages.  (Not my Witchy Graeme!!!  It was that twin-fin RRD sheep board)

As L192xxx says, retractions and deletion of comments in the public domain always look like someone is trying to sweep under the carpet, which is never going to play out well in social media.

One possibility would be that someone had a clever idea for cheaper and easier packaging which didn't turn out to be very clever when the hulls were delivered, and that packaging was used between HIN x and HIN y.

The HIN range was in the order of over one hundred though ...

The guy from RS said:

"as they had transport damage within a couple of containers and the transom seams got damaged due to error in our packing at our end "

A "couple of containers" wouldn't be a HIN range that wide ...

Does not add up ...

As much as we'd like to think we're 'a bit Jason Bourne' on the conspiracy front....

The video was made last night to show to some dealers and when uploaded the posting status was inadvertently 'public'. This was switched to 'link only' straight away, but our twitter feed automatically broadcasts public videos so it had already proudly announced the link. Then of course this link could access the now 'restricted' video. We removed the link as it had no context alongside it.

We're having our staff Christmas party tonight so will be careful not to post any more 'video slips' this eve of this malarky.

For those who may be looking at used boats in future could you please advise on the HIN range effected by this issue so we can ensure the repair has been done. The range was detailed in the video ....

Totally different manufacturer. The aero manufacturer is here in the UK and mainly makes aerospace parts, which is an extremely demanding industry. These boats are epoxy and there is no reason to believe they are not at least as strong if not stronger than any other foam cored singlehander. If you whacked a supernova, phantom, Dzero, or any other open transom single hander's transom into a container, it would feel it. It sounds like a few boats in a couple of containers i.e the ones with the transoms not padded enough or a bit loose up against the container I would guess. It was never suggested that it was containers full of boats.

Just a range to 'check'.. not necessarily to 'do'. The range just helps us bracket the batches that were strapped down and delivered in a certain way... we're building 20 boats a week at the moment and otherwise we'll be asking our dealers to run around doing things unecessarily.

We'll handle the 'check' alongside the huge list of other things that complete the finished hand made sailboat.
