Maybe some long distance yeacht races? People must always be looking for decent crew who can commit to sail while others have to work.

Sounds like a great position to be in!

Try Rockley Watersports. If you're upfront about things likes Cowes they may well be able to accommodate you. Centres are Poole and south west France.

Come April 2015 I end up with the last 6 months of my gap year free from my audit placement. A lot of people would want to go travelling, back pack down South America of something, but I'd rather stick to sailing. I've done a lot of research  and can't find anything that suits my situation, so maybe someone on here might have an idea, let me explain.

I'm technically free from April through to October, before uni starts. I don't really mind whether it's big boats or small boats, I just want to spend a lot of time sailing, learning about sailing or teaching people to sailing. I'm an instructor and racing coach and, whilst a season in the med or camp America sounds amazing, commitment like Cowes week and a family holiday mean I can't commit to 3 months work without a break. I also don't need to work, thanks to the past few months I'll have enough money (hopefully) to pay for travelling etc. for the rest of the year.

Has anyone got suggestions of ways to spend a few months sailing?

PS, sorry for the essay, and even after that I know I've missed a lot out so please ask me for more detail if that would help!  Big smile
