Yes! that's me! Flat cap, car coat, pipe, tartan rug and flask. Look sonny I pay my road tax see, my road tax, my road, my speed. Was it you who liked the Escort Mexico? bloody typical, tearaway! I'd have you lot castrated, flogged, they should never have scrapped National Service. Where's my tea Doris....bloody wives, waste of space!

Just read today's posts. Oh dear, what have I started now?!
Sorry for capsizing chaps, it does happen occasionally, especially when you're pushing to catch lightweight Mandy on a run! After capsizing I went over the transom because I find it easier to push-up onto the hull than pull-up via the dagger board....each to his own but it's no big deal unless someone wants to make it one ;-)
Happy sailing

I am a far bigger unit, with absolutely no hope of catching Mandy in those winds and I can happily report that I can climb back in over the side, no problem, no debate I did it and I hope the Wayfarer learns port from starboard next time we meet Confused

Sometimes in the d one I will go in over the back because me coming over the side can be enough to pull the rig over on top of me.  This is NOT because I am overly large - and I am still fit enough to pull myself into a d one, no easy task, it is because the rig is light.
the same, but different...

Damn Wayfarers ... should be licensed Ouch.. one nearly sank my Icon at Strath Clyde Loch Christmas Regatta .... Happy Christmas. How are you finding the Zero supports your fine frame and what is it like a proper blow (the boat - not your fine frame!)?

Having followed the bickering and cat fights, from a safe distance it must be said , over the RS Aero and D-Zero on various threads on this forum I think that it’s time for me to throw in my halfpennyworth. My view is simple, I think that the market should be celebrating the introduction of two of the most innovative and exciting single handed dinghies to hit the water for a very long time. IMHO the last time anything so exciting in this sector was the launch of the Laser some 43 years ago. In my mind both the RS Aero and the D-Zero are great boats and will find their place in the market over the coming years with each having appeal to different sectors. For sure we can see that preferences differ for a variety of reasons but the chances are there for people to test sail both classes and make their own decisions which boat works best for them.
Along with our dedicated team and our customers I am passionate about sailing and, of course, the D-Zero but I am sure that the same goes for everyone associated with the RS Aero. I see people trying to prove that one is faster than the other but, personally, I don’t care. That was not the reason for bringing the D-Zero to market and I am sure that the same goes for the RS Aero.
I think that the time has come for people to respect others views and, for those who are unsure, to test sail both boats and decide for themselves. Also may be worth a visit to check out the relevant Facebook pages to understand the communities that are associated with each class. Both classes have been very hard hit with the Great Lakes PYs so don’t try to judge the boats on results in these events.   In the final analysis the boats are both deserving of a significant following, for what they are and for the company and camaraderie of the people who sail them.

well said, and to be fair it was the husband of an RS employee bitchin' off to Russ, not an actual Aero sailor...

I think we'd love to hear more from Aero sailors, and would welcome the opportunity to race together in due course.

Aero Akbar!

Not an RS employee, an employee of the RS Association. Rather different.

Martin, the Zero is all I hoped it would be, I had a bit of a shock standing on the scales on Monday morning, surprising how fit you can feel and how heavy you can be! Still, I know how to sort it. Back to the Zero, it is all I thought it was in the demo, it carries weight far better than everybody (including the builders and designers) think it does, there are no vices, handles well doesn't stall, you can park it on the start line, regarding really hard conditions I still have to find out  but I expect her good manners to continue, absolutely no reason to think otherwise, it was a factor that helped me decide to buy her. YDSC has plenty of wind and I wanted to be able to compete with the rest up to a very good blow, I have this feeling the 'fine' frame will be first to fail, as I have said to anybody prepared to listen, she has rescued what was becoming a jaded sailing career Big smile

Steady Steve, inserting facts into the forum is very dangerous. You know there are people on here that are only interested in winning an argument. Facts just get in the way.
