Having followed the bickering and cat fights, from a safe distance it must be said , over the RS Aero and D-Zero on various threads on this forum I think that it’s time for me to throw in my halfpennyworth. My view is simple, I think that the market should be celebrating the introduction of two of the most innovative and exciting single handed dinghies to hit the water for a very long time. IMHO the last time anything so exciting in this sector was the launch of the Laser some 43 years ago. In my mind both the RS Aero and the D-Zero are great boats and will find their place in the market over the coming years with each having appeal to different sectors. For sure we can see that preferences differ for a variety of reasons but the chances are there for people to test sail both classes and make their own decisions which boat works best for them.
Along with our dedicated team and our customers I am passionate about sailing and, of course, the D-Zero but I am sure that the same goes for everyone associated with the RS Aero. I see people trying to prove that one is faster than the other but, personally, I don’t care. That was not the reason for bringing the D-Zero to market and I am sure that the same goes for the RS Aero.
I think that the time has come for people to respect others views and, for those who are unsure, to test sail both boats and decide for themselves. Also may be worth a visit to check out the relevant Facebook pages to understand the communities that are associated with each class. Both classes have been very hard hit with the Great Lakes PYs so don’t try to judge the boats on results in these events. In the final analysis the boats are both deserving of a significant following, for what they are and for the company and camaraderie of the people who sail them.

+1 - well done Rodney - fair as ever BUT the D-one was quite spectacular change in the market in a different way (please don't forget us in the flurry of d-aero hype!)

I thought of 'Stereo' for the combined class club.... (CCC - a bit like the KKK but without the racism and silly hats...)

Well said. Let's stick to the good thing's about which ever boat we like and stop having to have a sly dig at the other one.

CCC has been had already for the Combined Comet Classes... pretty sure there are silly hats involved in that at this time of year, but hopefully nothing else untoward!

Missed the point there was no dig about boats just someone having a dig at another forum member.

Sailed against an aero 7 for the first time this weekend, it won 2nd race out in very light conditions; it was actually close on the water to 2 phantoms, and well ahead of all the standard Lasers. Definitely some holes to negotiate, which the Ent sailor who has it; apparently as his winter boat (the ent's don't sail in the winter for some reason!) did very well, whilst after a blinding 1st beat I seemed to find several of the holes! So seems to go very well in the light be interesting to see how it fares in a variety of conditions.

No, not missed, just ignored it because I thought the sly dig was justifed. I just preferred to make a more general point about playing nice. So please let it rest.
