Halo too.
Didn't realise they were that Rapid

Now, then about my maths calculated system which by the way rates the Halo at 994.

I think it's faster than 1000 mate.  Mikes done a lovely job on the rig, which is massive by the way!

I did a fag packet calculation on my results as if I was running the class py on 1044 and it would of moved me about 12-15 places each race, which is not far off where I would expect to end up normally.

Still let's not draw away from a great event by going down the py route

The new Halo rig certainly is nice. Sets well and, in the light, the boat is very rapid (especially when you think the class is aimed at 100kg+).....  Wink

I'm sure if we went through the annals of this forum it was suggested that 100kg (or thereabouts) would be made up of a combination of beer bellies, bitch tits AND lead in the bottom if necessary to prevent any fly weight antics...

But hey, whatever, Zeros and 300s looked good, and as there were no Finns there my own interest then moves to the lasers, 505s and Merlins.....

Halos were 1st,  37th and 43rd

In the Battle of Classes sailed in a bit more wind,  D-Zero and RS Aero both beat the Halo,  all sailing off 1015

Mike (Blaze) also won the Oxford Blue in the last GJW Direct SailJuice Winter Series,  again in light winds

Mike is a superb light wind sailor, regularly taking the choccies in Blaze events in light winds. And he does have a knack of developing very nice sails!

Ah but does he sell them to his customers, or keep the best for 'special occasions'

Yeah of course we always keep the 'best' stuff for those special occasions - North have a secret file that is only to provide 'better' sails for me personally and they are quietly supplied 'under the radar'...... Keep it quiet and I'll sell you one if you are prepared to pay say 20% over the list prices and promise not to tell anyone.  Nobody will ever know ... they look exactly the same as the regular ones.

The Dancing Farmer was off on sick leave this weekend - so I could not join the three other Icons who were at Draycote this time in '03'.  Hopefully when the vet says he's 'good to go' again normal service will resume.   As he is oft heard to say 'age, cunning and guile can occasionally win over youth, fitness and talent'.

But thank you Draycote again, SJ and the sponsors  ... and we will be looking forward to Datchet on 13/14 December quite soon.

Mike L.

Having sailed the boat Mike sailed at the Dash the week before I can attest that in light winds it goes very nicely indeed. Let us remember though that a PY is an average across the wind conditions and as soon as the wind gets up  Mike with a Halo rig would struggle (and probably change to a Blaze).

Good effort though, well done Mike and well done to Draycote who ran a slick event in light wind conditions (from the reports so far).

There are a few guys looking to build a fleet of Zero's (possible Aero's) at our club. Think 5 or 6 looking to order together.
Was just wondering if they are that much faster than a Laser (-100 'Units') and faster than even the Scorpion or Merlin
