I unclip it every time and put in a bag that I have for all my ropes, gloves and windvane. Never seems to tangle. Never rinse it, but do 75% sailing in freshwater.

I keep it attached to the mast, and pulled block-to-block. Much easier to untangle when there's only a 3-1 section to worry about.

Not really I had one of the transom fairleads let go because it had come loose (and it ripped the deck on the way out). I sorted that by forking out for the all ali fairleads, definitely with the money!

Take them all off if you aren't going to be using the boat for a while, most foil bags have a handy pocket for this sort of thing... Obviously at an event you would take them off at the end, not every night.

My yearly maintenance used to consist of going round the boat with a screwdriver to check the screws were tight. then again I am a pondie....

Well, that's certainly a good idea - but my Laser kicker has survived 6+ years of misuse, one rinse per year - and storage in the bottom of the boat, without any obvious detriment.

Oh and if sailing on salt water make sure you rinse everything off with clean water after each sail.

In a puddle in the bottom of the boat
