Not sure if this is the right place, sorry admins if not...
Just wondering how people store their vang/cunningham/outhaul when the boat is packed away. I imagine Rooster make a specific bag or briefcase style contraption to store them but that might be a bit much. I obviously don't want to leave them on the beach with the boat. What do others do? Steve

I always used to leave mine attached to the mast under the cover. I did used to wrap the tail of the vang round the main bit a few times and tie it off to prevent it getting all messed up which works pretty well.
With the outhaul just left it on the boom with the rope lifted off the cockput floor so if water got under the cover it didnt sit in it. Most Laser sailors I know leave this stuff attached and under the boat cover.

Oh and if sailing on salt water make sure you rinse everything off with clean water after each sail.

Well, that's certainly a good idea - but my Laser kicker has survived 6+ years of misuse, one rinse per year - and storage in the bottom of the boat, without any obvious detriment.

My yearly maintenance used to consist of going round the boat with a screwdriver to check the screws were tight. then again I am a pondie....

Take them all off if you aren't going to be using the boat for a while, most foil bags have a handy pocket for this sort of thing... Obviously at an event you would take them off at the end, not every night.

Not really I had one of the transom fairleads let go because it had come loose (and it ripped the deck on the way out). I sorted that by forking out for the all ali fairleads, definitely with the money!
