Matt- it's an awesome photo sir, just in case my joshing with Mike was taken too literally.
The whole package concept is, imho very attractive now there's only one mast required. Edited by kneewrecker - 11 Nov 14 at 8:18pm |

For what it's worth. A blaze sail on a stretched halo mast.
Bugger, how do post a pic on here again ? The wonders of an I pad. Edited by Mattb669 - 11 Nov 14 at 8:43pm |

As I was the photographer/race officer/rescue boat on the day ..I can add some facts to stop speculation
Matt had just borne away off to the wing mark after rounding the windward mark for the second time. He had rigged a lashed dynamo puller on the mast, after some previous inversion issues. The wise were beating inshore in flat water up to the point off Bognor, catch the back eddy and hit the starboard layline. No Blazes were planing upwind in 12 - 14 its in this race. Sunday 24th July 2011 10:40 is the date stamp The yellow/mustard boat colour is great and suits Matt's personality (although it could do with some more texture and fluffy cushions) compared to the clone grey boats out there. Plus it matches Matt's big butch Fireman's protective gear and JCB very well. Available for Hen nights, as he does a great Magic Mike routine in his fireman kit with his big hose. I think the Mark 4 hull (super light) rumour trumps those.....

As has been said already ... "why let the facts get in the way of a great story" ....
No production Blaze hulls now exist in a 'superlight' form and we have no plans to produce any. We did work with several 'Fire' demographic testers who were offered two versions 1) A 'narrow' wing equipped hull that was also very light as a result and had no correctors fitted either 2) A standard Blaze hull with regular 'wide' wings at the regular minimum weight. Both were fitted with the 8.8m Fire sail. So which did they go for ? Well the 'regular' one ! Yes they universally wanted the leverage of the standard boat and were more than happy to accept the additonal weight that went with it..... The clear goal and their arguments were understandable and can be sumarised as ... "why reduce the sail area AND leverage when what we really want is a reduction in overall loadings and demands on the crew" Seemed reasonable to us and makes life very much simpler than it could have been as well. 'They' get what they wanted, it is also introducing the core boat to a much wider number, and the CA is seeing a surge in support .. and adoption. A 'win-win' decision .... And who knows - Matt might even fit those ex 600 foils he had yet ! ... but no it would not be legal .. or perhaps even sensible ! Mike L. |

I just figure that if we keep perpetuating these myths; low weight foils, hull, comfy aero-style wings... Then eventually they will happen

Why didn't you also offer them 3) A very light hull with wide, one-piece carbon wings?
