Great post from Null, and in conditions like we had over the weekend you may as well take PY and chuck it away.

We hosted the British Moths over the weekend at Hunts and in club race 1 (where they started 3 minutes behind) they went through the entire fleet start started ahead of them very quickly (and I was in one, good fun even in a drifter and don't they roll tack and gybe well!).

Same story for race 2, they had caught gone through most of the fleet in front by the windward mark.

Don;t hear any calls for their PY to be dropped to 969 though  Wink.

To be fair once the breeze filled in ever so slightly the Zero picked up and made 2 minutes on a Laser in pretty quick fashion (he was not sailing well though). Couldn't get anywhere near the Solo though who had shown the fleet a clean pair of heels very early on!

Still it was fun of sorts.....

You say that with some assurance after one sail in no wind?  Hmm....   Wink

I do James, given that the last few boats i have owned/sailed are optomised in certain locations/conditions.  I wouldnt of even bothered sailing in a drifter before.  granted in the future i may feel the same in the zero (Once the newness wears off)

i had a fairly varied Demo at Haversham, marginal planing weather.  So have a good idea how well suited it is now.  Certainly well enough not to draw a conclusion on the boat from one demo to lable a boat unsuitable for sea sailing ... Wink

Tried Pauls d-0 while Paul was moth bothering. Loved it and want one, would anyone out there like to buy a kidney! LOL :)

Re British Moths, they can sail a lot better than their handicap when the wind is very light, the problem is they don't go any faster when the wind does blows. It like driving a supercar limited to 40mph!

I watched the d zeros drifting along at Grafham on Sunday afternoon.  They made the lasers look very old fashioned as well as slow.
the same, but different...

Nessa, when we going to get you out in a boat?  You know you need to 'Top Up' your Devoti collection (sounds like a collection of Italian Branded Supercars)  with a little somethign for Wednesday nights at Hunts.

I tried the demo boat but there wasn't much wind.  Jeffers has offered me a go in his, as has our other purchaser, so I will give it a better go sometime soon I hope.

Should have come to Emsworth on Sunday - flat out hiking upwind and close reaching (in the gusts).

Picked up mine from Hayling on the way home, happy days Big smile
