pretty much my opinion on it- except I don't have a D-Zero yet.

The aero just looks so dated, all those angles and boxey shape ... The D-0 just looks so much nicer. Not to mention what looks a far superior rig.

No doubt the aero will do well with the holiday companies and schools but the zero looks much more likely to develop into a racing class.

I don't think the hype adds any credibility either- check this out:

Hi! I am in!

Well done to Chunky for setting up a lovely forum, thanks.

I did Barts Bash on Sunday after the Battle of the Classes race in
1003. Great days sailing with some full on planing in the spiky gusts. That was just my 3rd time out and I spent most of the first race trying to work out the best sail settings. My main challenge there seemed how much kicker to use.

In the Bash I got away on the shifty/fluky first beat and actually finished 4th on the water behind Osprey/505/RS300. Cant draw too many conclusions from that considering the patchy conditions (offshore wind under cruse ship and boat show) but I did find the Aero9 very agile, being able to throw a couple of scramblie roll tacks as the wind went crazy underneath the cruise ship.

Now, I don't know if my memory is playing tricks on me, but I did think I saw Mr Holman beating this RS Aero in the results, and given they both started at the same time, surely this would have put the D-Zero ahead of the Aero across the water....???

Talking of credibility, would you by any chance be confusing the results for the Pursuit race in the morning in which the Dzero was one place ahead of the Aero with the results of the Barts Bash handicap race in the afternoon? After all the quote specifically states Barts Bash race and its quite meaningless to talk about beating people on the water in a pursuit race...

Alas pistol Pete did me fair and square (as did my mate in the other zero) in the shorter Barts bash race held after the pursuit. I got parked in a big hole shortly after reaching up what was the middle of the short beat. In the shadow of the cruise liner.
I reckon another lap and I'd have got him, but then I would say that

Ah well, that explains the confusion....  I thought the main event doubled-up.

So, nicely accurate hype! Shows the boat has some great speed for a small "beach boat".

Chaps, can we keep comments on each thread about the boat. I know its a forum, but I was hoping that anyone coming on to find out about a specific boat would find something useful here.

If not then someone else might as well start a thread called 'Bitchin about other peoples boats I haven't even sailed"

it sure does, but interesting not to mention the main event from the Battle of the Classes?  Just Sayin'

... and Simon, really?  This was tumbleweed until Boat Basher stated the obvious- congratulations for migrating one set of observations from a thread that wasn't even titled RS Aero to one that is.  Google will be sure to reference this accordingly...  Confused

Anyway, enjoy the boat... when you eventually get it.   Smile
