Null .... If you stood the respective helms next to the rigs in play you might actually find the ratios were not dissimilar at all.   Matt (in the Halo) would possibly need 2 x Zeros (one for each foot !).  (The weight difference between say Matt and Dan/Peter is about the all up weight of at least an Aero and even possibly a Zero !)

I also think you lot may have been watching just too many episodes involving 'Craggy Island' - keep taking the tablets ! Wink

Mike L.

Mike i dont understand what you mean??  I guessed the helm was goign to be a big guy, he is sailing a rig designed for 100kg plus sailors isnt it??

Think you are reading a little more into my post then was meant.  It was actually meant as was written, look at the size difference.  The halo rig looks massive!  nothing more meant by it...

More look how flat the mirror is being sailed and the angle of the Zero he he.

I am sure perspective is playign a trick on me in these shots I just thought the Halo looked bloody Massive next to the Zero.

Sat in front of my laptop with the sun beaming in and all i can think about is..I cant wait to chisel the ice from my cover to get out over the winter....Whats wrong with me.  Going to be some epic sailign this winter, racing against other Zero's and old friends alike!!!!  Now where did i put my bloody winter hikers.

Steve,
I wouldn't expect you to understand.  Given your track record of sailing kit and overall maintenance perhaps i should explain a little in a Bolland style.  Hikers make hiking more comfortable and help aid blood flow and all that other good stuff, you can buy them ready made from most chandlers.  They are very much like the two duct taped yellow pages i have seen you tuck down the legs of you Douglas Gill long jon.  Not to be confused with the pair of rolled rugby shorts you tuck down the front....

I know, and given the size of the waves in the foreground, i am surprised the Zero went so well.  They must be 5 times the size of the southern ocean like waves seen in Lymington

... and making excellent way up the slope on that lake...

EDIT - does that slope contribute to a lee-bow effect?

I did wonder about it all really.... I have it on good authority the boat is absolutely useless if the saltiness is too high.  Combine the salinity of the English Channel and the wave form of Lymington and really you have a perfect storm of terrible variables.... and that's before taking into consideration Pistol Pete gunning for you to make his Christmas Bonus.

You have to hand it Holman, he could hollow out a log and make it go well to windward, shame the rest of you are, to put it technically, f*cked.

Well Jimbo, my boat is the grey colour.  Which is know to be faster.  So Daniel is going to get his arse handed to him.  I paid two buxom virgin eastern European car valeter girls £5 each to polish the bottom of my zero with Whale Semen.  So the salinity of any water will not pose a threat.
