What, if any, online resources/printed literature does you club provide for the beginners on the 1&2 course?

Is all info passed on verbally in briefings?

Do you provide a few pages of info on your websites specifically for beginners, perhaps with a few links to other sites?

Do you print everything up and give handouts?

Do you flog them the RYA handbooks, other books?

....I guess not all trainees would read the stuff, they may see it as homework...but?

For a while now, I've been toying with the idea of getting a GoPro and spending a few days recording myself doing all of the manoeuvres and stuff on the water and in land drills from a whole bunch of angles, then editing them together into tutorial videos that I can dump to youtube, but it's still waiting on me having time to do it.

I tend to do it all as practically and as  hands on as possible - far better to do rather than to watch.  We do offer the handbook, but I prefer to set 'homework' overnight so students research things themselves such as tides, weather, Beaufort scale  etc.  I might use the rya better sailing or start sailing DVDs as a last resort if the weather is awful .
the same, but different...
