Supernova rig is quite tweak able, actually rather more to do than on the aero or zero, but you have to learn the boat and it is plenty fast enough when you know how and that takes a bit of time - sail it like a laser and its not that quick, but use the big foils and get the trim right and it will lift up and through a Laser. I was always told it was taken from a 505 and then cut down and there are similarities, but never seen one side by side.
When you let the main off to tack on the Supernova it is quite stiff, so unless you tack cleanly in a breeze it can go into irons. In the zero or aero they should be better because unstayed, so let the main off, mast pops up and draft moves forward. Edited by SimonW99 - 16 Jun 14 at 1:38pm |

In an attempt to try and get this thread back on topic I am pleased to report that the D-Zero Roadshow visit to Yorkshire Dales SC was a great success, even if TR lied about the weather with me expecting shorts and T Shirt conditions and not Polartec temperatures
![]() ![]() We have had fantastic feedback from all of the Roadshows to date with the order book continuing to grow. The first production D-Zeros will arrive in the UK shortly and, with production capacity growing from 3 boats per week at present to 6 boats a week from mid-August, we are able to quote late August/early September delivery for new orders ![]() Our Roadshow dates are filling up with a full program for July, soon to be published. If you would like s to visit your club for D-Zero testing please email me. |

So the answer there is quite clear, why don't they change it? No - don't tell me, the 'class' wouldn't approve. ![]() Edited by iGRF - 16 Jun 14 at 2:26pm |

I dunno- there's three very separate marks of Supernova available, all running off the same PN at most places.... I'm sure a little softening of the rig here and there could get through, 'approved' or otherwise.

Grf I am with you on that one. To be fair to the class they did go for it by taking a load of weight out when they went epoxy, but switching to a carbon rig would have been too much.
It does need a carbon boom imho as the ally one is pretty heavy. It still probably wouldn't have the advantage of the unstayed mast on the Dzero, D'One or Finn (or aero) in terms of it popping forward, but then again they will have more lateral bend as they are unstayed. That said some lateral bend creates gust response.

Rodney knows the answer to getting back on topic is a media rich post of lots of lovely production boat photos.... :-)

Smack on topic, just pointing out why the Dzero shouldn't go into irons as much as a competitor boat

Now what would be really good is the ability to track my new D-Zero along the Devoti production line - a bit like buying a new Audi or VW

My wife, Sue, just went shopping and she asked what I want for dinner tonight. It looks like we have settled for steak and chips and a nice bottle of Domaine Benoit Raclet that I found in the cellar
