It would seem upwind was 7.

Reaching 7 or 9 or both?

Gybing??

A quick check on the 'West Coast Sailing' site shows you can pre-order an Aero for delivery by 15th March 2015!

Does anybody actually put down $500 for a boat you presumably haven't seen (let alone sailed), 9 months in advance?

What happens if the dealer goes bust?

People put a shed load more money down for other objects that are in limited supply. Morgan cars for instance. Its not something I know about but I'm sure there are ways that deposits can be protected.

If paid for by credit card, then in the EU at least, you are protected.  Not sure on the deal stateside... guess it won't affect many readers of this thread though.

For footage of the aero going up wind, see the Facebook page of McCready Sailboats.

Not sure if you can embed stuff on this forum and there doesn't appear to be a youtube facility but that's the link.

From the following article:

http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/news/178782/RS-Sailing-at-PSP-Southampton-Boat-Show

The RS Aero is the product of three years of development here at RS HQ, testing four different hull variations and numerous rigs, foils and layouts - resulting in a boat that we're confident is the most technologically advanced in its sector.

cough... dacron.  cough... cough....

I am confussed, i thought RS bought the design from the defunct Oman sailing project which was seen sailing at Camel Week 2012??

On another note, that RS Venture keel boat looks lovely.  I like that allot. What a versatile idea, great for disabled sailors and looks to be a fabulous family boat.
