Paul,
Great right up thanks for sharing.  No real suprises to those of us who have sailed one.  It really is a boat thats free from vices...Really looking forward to gettign one now.  I see you are selling your Laser.  Do you have a zero it that needs scratching?

Really good to hear this positive feedback from everyone, i have obvious ties to Suntouched so am a little biased.  But there has been some really imparcial reviews all of which are postiive.  Very pleasing to hear a small supplier (Suntouched) and a great guy (Dan) working alongside a really strong builder in Devoti and producing a boat that seems to appeal to so many.

Thanks

I could certainly achieve a clean release off the transom and that nose isn't exactly bluff, so no sign of stopping it.

The supernova's battened sail holds a shape in the light, which helps, but its real benefit is in marginal planing conditions where the transition is so smooth it planes away whilst others are still trying to get over the hump.

The Zero could be made to generate a good sail shape in the light without full battens.

The weight carrying ability does surprise me. From photos, the rocker looks flatter than a flat thing, which combined with relatively low volume I would expect to be very draggy in the light stuff.  Can anyone explain how it appears to break with normal design rules? Maybe it is narrow enough that any drag from the stern digging in would be minimised (ala catamarans) or maybe water flows over the tapered stern to simulate a canoe like stern?

BTW, getting my weight forward would probably turn it into a wave piercing hull....that could be fun.

I can't really comment other than from a windsurfing perspective... but the transom didn't feel draggy in the same way a fat tail board does.  Volume distribution seemed 'just right' ... sit forward and smile as the sticker on my Oppy used to say!

No need to crouch up like Bendy Wendy in the back of a Corsa to get your kicks though.

There is more rocker than you might think, its certainly not skiff like in that regard. plus its quite long which helps. It would take about 2000kg to sink one - any volume more than a couple inches above waterline is just drag - "high volume" being a light air boost is only applicable in boards where the lower volume boards are a) generally shorter and b) have more water wrapping around the topsides onto the deck increasing wsa etc. Not the same in boats. Stern is out if you are sitting level with mainsheet cleat, you can get more out of you go further fwd. No need for funny tapering.
The orig punk was skinnier in the transom, but I built it out a little to enhance the reacharounds.

Yes, the reacharound is the modus operandi of a competitor's offering. And an area where the orig punk boat maybe had room for improvement. This is a beach boat remember, not an exclusively ww/lw weapon, so a good old reacharound off the beach must be a strong point.
