There was always going to be a hatch on the rudder post - perhaps on the other side in the photos of the production boat.

Am sure I saw an inspection hatch suddenly appear on the rudder post of one of the demo boats, but none on the production boat photos. Maybe it's was just for development purposes....

That area of the boat is always a concern and can take a bit of  a hammering, especially with cassette or fixed rudders.

As i understand it its made the same as most other dinghies.  If you hole it then it would have to be repaired the same way as every other boat.

Unobtanium from the planet.........

It doesn't say on the site, FRP or perhaps epoxy. The D-One doesn't have any hatches either, but don't think thats ever been of concern. Modern boats when built well are pretty tough. You just need a bung. If water comes out, its your fittings, if it doesn't its dry!

Obviously if you start running into things you shouldn't be sailing anyway Embarrassed

Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else
