Did the EPS guy have a go in one? I wonder how he thought it felt? In semi planing offwind that is the EPS's strong point, 9.4 sail area delivers good off wind pace, it's upwind that the EPS sometimes falters.. Edited by iGRF - 19 May 14 at 10:22am |

Not sure TBH, I don't think he did. For club racing in those winds, gut instinct (based on a 5 minute lap in light flukey winds) would say the D-Zero has the edge on it though. Long beat on the sea... who knows, I bet the guy who hikes for longer gets to the windward mark quicker, but that's pure supposition.

christ, I really don't know... I'd guess you can when you know what you're doing and where your feet go. I was an expert at capsize recovery in my RS100 within a few weeks, I can't see this boat chucking up much of a challenge on that front... It was stable and not skittish in the water. And I am being genuine- I haven't righted a dinghy for 18 months+. I knew the camera was on and I knew I looked more like a rutting walrus than a balletic sailing youtube god... not a good recipe, but hopeful enough 'value' gained to trade personal vanity for the greater good of seeing it behave like a topper when capsized.

You have to go some on the sea to overhaul a well sailed Laser, the only una rig single hander that you can physically see a speed difference other than a Phantom in very light winds, and the Blaze in a breeze, is the Contender, other than that it's the off wind battle an EPS usually has the Edge over and then it'll rely on the wave speed, get some fastish waves and a surfing fool in a Laser and they're gone.
