Given the amount of beer that I now owe, especially to kw, I think that my next investment may have to be a brewery ![]() |

I loved the way you went over the side with no hint of embarrassment in the body wobble roll over the top. Can you not step over the side with a certain amount of decorum and causally bring it up?

can you? ![]() ![]() Although there was a certain amount of apprehension, seriously I haven't capsized a boat since Dec 2012 and what if, just like the time I tested a Concept 302 at 14 years old, I broke it recovering the capsize?

Doh I missed that.. I must say how pleased I am to see a visual improvement in the modern young(ish) sailboat rider, compare the one with the other.. Sleek(ish) style body armour rather than buoyancy blubber, bare feet instead of stinky boots, he looks positively stylish, compare with that old fashioned victim of a bygone age in the other clip.. all he needs is the runny nose, spots, nhs glasses beer mat sewn neatly to his ass by a maiden aunt to complete the fifties dinghy sailor picture.. Well done jimbo, have a word with your mate will you? Do we want a nice modern class cluttered up with old fashioned scruffy people. ![]() |

Wouldn't be surprised if the Laser could hold its own in that light stuff, though hopefully the D-0 is a bit quicker even then.

FWIW- I rounded up after the last starter in one of their club races, by the windward mark I was in 3rd.
Lucky shift and goes like stink upwind... it flattered me. In first was a very well sailed Supernova (I'd got ahead of two others) and a Laser- again being sailed well by club standards. The D-Zero was quicker off wind and I closed that gap massively... now considering I'm a) crap offwind b) heavy c) generally lack interest in light winds therefore a tad skills deficient I was impressed.... mainly because when you dropped concentration and slowed up, it didn't take an age to wind it back up again. Compared to my Solo anyway. A guy in a EPS closed in on me when he got semi-planing and I faffing around, but I was able to pull that gap back in line once I got my eyes on the sail and water again. But as MM says, in very light winds, inland on small courses, the boat sped variables are negligible. Much more testing and races needed to gauge comparative speed. I don't think performance will be an issue though, if I could sum up the experience compared to other boats: - glides like a phantom - handles like a Solo (turns on a dime) - responsive as an RS300 - simple as a Laser - stable as a Vareo I don't think it will be a boat for everyone- tweakers and rig nerds need not apply (unless it is for their second boat of course, where refreshing simplicity is part of their masterplan.) But I was pleasantly surprised - gimmick free and vice free - I hope it's got a future.

We shall find out at Hunts. I Intend to have my Laser rigged and to do a direct comparison...not that i expect the Last to get anywhere near it!
