rooster 8.1 rig on the Facebook dinghies group going dirt cheap too.....

couple that with an old wooden tillered Kirby Torch shed, knock an XD kit together out of the crap in the bottom of the tool box and come show these Aeros, Zeros and Fires a thing or two.... for a 1/6th of the price. LOL

The knuckle/taper  "reduces the heeling moment" and "improves efficiency" - my *ss!  

Not in fact a lie, but it will likely reduce the lever arm between the centres of pressure of rig and centreboard from something like 2.99m to 2.98m if you're lucky, I'd guess.

As for the efficiency improvement that will be lost in the vastly higher sum of all the other drag forces.

But OK why not, even if it's not actually worthy of crowing over as a selling point?  Well, if you don't preserve the optimum section profile over the tapered part, you could actually make things worse; the reason you're often better off not tapering the planform of home-made foils.  Hopefully that won't be the case now we have CAD and CNC, but I'm just saying...

There is a bit of a difference in how the glider wing and the aero foils are built that explains the time difference.
As ever a load of marketing guff based on optimum theory. Take the foil out of its optimised design point and a rectangular plank with a rounded leading edge would perform just as well. We seem to live in an era of willingness to buy into every 0.1% increments, whether it be sailing, cycling or all manner of everyday applications. In almost all cases it only actually matters to about 0.1% of the users, the rest of the buyers just enjoy the smugness of having purchased something they will never gain from. Each to their own!
