Well last weekend I finally got out there. Practice on Saturday and racing on Sunday. I have been unable to sail so far this year because of physical incapacity and unsailable wind, for me at least. On Sunday I bashed round the reser. for three hours racing at the back of the fleet with the same polite gentlemen I always do. Very enjoyable even the insulting remarks from the 'former boy' when he was coming back as I was going up.

Bit stiff now though.......

The alternative our way is resign oneself to a non-sailable hangover.... fortunately Malmaison has obliged with a cheap room saturday night, the monkeys are farmed out and what was going to be a sober meal with wife and friends before a dawn raid to the south coast, is getting turned into some intense consumption of Rennie and Nurofen on sunday morning following the inevitable lash-up on no-wind weekends.

Sailing would be a healthier pastime.... but binge drinking and extravagant food is at least more socially acceptable.

yep totally frustrating.... booked Sunday or Monday for a coastal dash for months, now no wind forecast anywhere drivable.  I'll head to Oxford SC to check it out on Sunday- gets me out of meeting up with the inlaws at least.

3 More lost sea days, Sunday, Tuesday Night no wind, Thursday Night wind switched off just as we're getting the boats out, it's getting very tedious this.

erm, the benefit of dinghy sailing is, you are supposed to be able to do it whatever the wind direction.  The usual compromise is that the upper wind limit is fairly restrictive - not such an issue in UK with its prevailing light wind conditions.

All this onshore, cross-off, offshore, longshore rip, high tide, back eddys - sure we're familiar with it, but it doesn't stop us sailing....

sometimes you've got to accept there's a fundamental problem with the location.

Move to Poole Harbour when you retire.
