May have dropped under the radar but the revamp is now up and running, the 4000 was launched at the dinghy show. New sails with built in buoyancy, trapeze wires to ropes, mast spec changed.
Looks good to me, not sure the sail buoyancy will make a difference though! ![]() Edited by Telltale - 24 Mar 14 at 12:50pm |

I did see that, took one look at the lack of carbon and went away underwhelmed, it wasn't the best of boats before, I can't see anything there that will have dramatically improve the position, it even looked as if it had been made of plastic which I seriously hope isn't the case. Same as the Buzz, I think if they aint lightening things up, they're missing a trick.

Yes, until they get rid of the top-heaviness by lightening up the mast, it's not going to win too many new hearts and minds. Lightening the hull alone would just make matters worse.

difficult decision putting a carbon stick on it though. It makes it instantaneously an expensive boat / upgrade to an old boat. And probably kills any chance of lift off. But without it there is a chance it might gain some traction.

Ah, but much like riding a tall bike, or balancing a broom on your hand, having weight aloft increases the roll period so it might actualy be easier to sail (less twitchy) with a heavy mast - up to the point of capsize.
