Nice to see no lumpy bits on the thwart too - one ripped drysuit is enough.

I find the same thing when viewing some images on this forum when using a Mac with Chrome. Maximising the browser allows image/post to render. I guess Chrome isn't dynamically resizing the image correctly for some reason, odd.

Sorry, but Knickers to the crew! In light winds the helm sits on the thwart and the crew scrambles about to leeward and forward. After all who paid for the boat. Ok will now run and hide.
Sorry Thunder but why have a boat designed for two sails and keep using it with just the main when singlehanded? I used to sail the 400 with main and Jib and in the light kite as well.

Unlike on a single hander there shouldn’t ever really be a situation where you have to squat or kneel astride the centreboard. With a crew of two you can nearly always adapt positioning so that you don’t have to. Sitting on the cockpit floor is also quite comfortable on the Icon.

Crews should always be dangled outside the boat bouncing about on and off the water unless there is some useful task to perform inside the boat, like spinnaker erection, or water ejaculation..

You can run but you can't hide.  Anyway, who says the Helm always pays for the boat?  Perhaps the Helm is the expert (who indeed can sail a boat single handed with jib and kite, and on a trapeze too, so there) and the right size, and can adapt to the crew's incompetence.... Will let you know how comfy the floor is.

If we are talking in stereotypes .. perhaps the helm can 'provide' the boat and the crew the optional Thwart maybe ?

Crews can sail just about whenever thay want - helms on the other hand often have to make the prospect attractive.  For some that might mean the odd beer or three is offered, for others a thwart.  For still more both of the above incentives and any number of further promises plus occasional apologies and grovelling for 'poor' behaviour and hysterical outbursts.  Wink

Being a brilliant sailor I too can sail single handed with two (or when available even 3 sails) BUT some of the eager types at the club think that two sails, one man in boat sydrome renders a power to weight advantage (Bit like Mercedes vs Ferrari engines nowadays) so I play fair and just put one sail up. Nice guys us Icon sailors! - still won, sometimes, anyway  Clap

Crew and helm are too far back in light airs if either is sitting on the plastic log ..... just throw it out and concentrate on racing - you'll be doing too well for the crew to even realise that they are uncomfortable.
