Unless I'm missing something the number of races listed looks quite healthy. More than MPS and a lot more than d1. Am I missing something here?

I though there would be more than that. It's the last 3 years, right?

No, that's quite right... although the MPS numbers are probably artificially low, as I understand they've pretty much grouped up into regional fleet centres like Datchet and Stokes Bay, so are primarily class racing. It's the best thing for that specific class, as frankly sailing with others in the same boat massively reduces the learning curve in my experience. Same must apply for moths too I guess.

so it's cumulative, and not an annual number, genuine question...

I think so, with last years numbers weighted more than the first year

yes its cumulative, but only across those clubs that have actually put in returns and only for finishes where they didn't hit the poor performance exclusion and exluding all the results where the club just put down RS100.

that's quite weird, from experience it's quite easy to perform very poorly in the RS100 - just get a light day with tight reaches and the leach hooks and it just gets stuck upwind, without any gains from the kite downwind. I don't see why such examples should be cut from the data, you would also therefore have to exclude the days when that woofer gets to bark loudly- marginal planing with big long downwinders, or ideally a kite able single reach... you can really do some damage to the spreadsheet on days like that, even I won a race or two in those conditions... it's not a true average if either are removed from the dataset. It's bi-polar boat... that much was obvious after they'd been in the UK for 6 months. As for the clubs only declaring RS100, I guess that's inevitable to a level, but it would interesting to know how much more reliable the data would be if they were also in the mix.

The joys of py racing. Some boats are better in certain conditions and courses than others....that will never change.

Well the 100 works for me on our puddle, as the results from both last summer's Wednesday night series (obviously usually light) and this winter's Saturday all-in handicap (usually b-windy), so I have to disagree. I think my results are at least on a par with those I would have achieved in my Laser or 200. For those not in the know, a typical Frensham race will use 8 marks in a cats cradle course of all sorts of angles, doing between 2 and 4 laps in an hour, depending on he wind strength.
