Of course it's nosey, on the forum. After at the only man on the forum that has actually sailed it, said point blank, it wasn't!
![]() After all, the experts on the forum must be right.

I didn't say it was... I just said that as I understand it moving the mast forwards would make a boat generally more nose happy than moving it aft. Seeing as the RS hasn't moved its mast in either direction it will be what it is...
I also stated that moving the mast will only make a difference if the hull is slowed down by the waves or its own shape. Similar to slipping and tripping which is pretty basic maths, basically when pushed an object will either slide or fall over. What it does first depends on where the force is applied and how much friction it has to overcome to slip. The same, only more dynamic, happens with a hull.

Wasn't getting at you in particular. Just forum experts in general. I do have I little knowledge on the centre of effort etc. I have too, I sail a 11 foot slow boat, with a scow front and a large sail. Moving the mast, just an inch makes a huge difference to how the boat behaves.

My brother was trimming the kite in the pic above. The wind built and built and they had far too big a kite up. The nose dive occurred when the VRO's son was elected, as the lightest, to go up to the front so they could get the darn thing down. In this pic, he's washed off the boat and about 2 boat lengths behind. But they got the thing down safely in the end and were commended for recovering the overboard crewman. How the rig stayed up, no one quite knows. |

Didn't seem nosey when I sailed it and looking at the latest posted picture nose is well up in the breeze. I suspect where the rocker is and extent of the rocker is just as relevant. I suspect t that a series of things contribute. Dans punk seems to have very little nose volume, but he sailed it round the IOW with no problems. I doubt that either of these boats have such fundamental problems or they wouldn't have got this far.

My earlier comment, pg46, was just that, a comment, it wasn't intended as some sage design critique by an expert (I am neither an expert or sage).
It's interesting to see both designs come as far as a boat show launch by relatively 'big' brands in the UK dinghy scene. Obviously, they see a market for such craft and best of luck to them. Proof of such deserts will be in the consumption and all that. It's actually more interesting, IMO, that both are coming to market now. I wonder what RS and Devoti are hearing and seeing from their respective customer bases that's prompted this flurry of launch activity?

Laser/Kirby Torch self destructing with their various legal spats and supply issues must have tempted these guys to have a go at that space in the market ...

Nothing exciting. A few motions to dismiss but it is still rumbling on.
