By creeping up behind me in the dark and going boo! ?

Can't think of any other way anything twelve foot long with sails on it would have me quaking in my boots.

But I would like to talk a bit more about this, perhaps in some other thread, I came across one when I was searching for clarification on what an N12 foil did, maybe I'll bump it up if I can find it again it was an old one, Merlinboy and Turnturtle were yakking away..

Short boats can be just as scary as fast longer boats, just in a very different way.
God, merlinboy and turnturtle that's a blast from the past.
What ever happened to them?  LOL

FTFY

However scary you think boats are, try speedsailing a short wind or kitesurfing board, it's a real exercise in rectal control.

Will check with yellowwelly when he comes back on line, he knows a lot more about this sort of thing than me. Smile

I think you're okay Duncan... no one from my generation or younger knew who DLT was until his old flames came out of the woodwork and said his pillow talk wasn't as smooth as his radio patter.

Sadly he won't be available for the RS Zero tour... he's already booked in to ogle at fellow celebrities with their kit off in the Jungle...

My foolish was scarier than my 18. Though similar tendency to go down the mine at the windward mark. The 18 always felt more in control once the kite was up. Not great at reaching on the start line though. The foolish would just faster then bite you. The DCB is much more controllable. But probably not quite as fast as a modified foolish. Though you never need to back off.

Time to give you an update following the revelation of the same boat names.... some coincidence...! As many people in the sailing industry and community know, Zero has been the working title for our new RS single-hander for some time. We've moved on, however.

We realised that Zero has been used as a sailing dinghy model name by Comet for years and, whilst they may or may not enforce their prior use rights, it would seem a bit rude to copy it. And (equally importantly) Mrs Wadhams and a few others weren’t all that keen.

So our boat will be the RS Aero (trademark applied for), with a suffix for each rig:
RS Aero 5
RS Aero 7
RS Aero 9
We think the name better reflects the boat’s light weight – and we’re hoping for free chocolate (just getting that in before YellowWelly).

Anyway that’s just the name – look forward to showing the boat at the Dinghy Show! Here’s a couple of recent photos and the logo.

As long as its easy for any and every occasional club race officer to tell one from the other, that's the main thing.

Presumably you are aware that Aero 5, 7, 9 etc are past designs of NS14? Whilst I can't imagine that the design names are trademarked (because development classes tend not to do that sort of thing) there might be confusion if you want to get into the Australian market.

free chocolate's good, but I think you'll see the request was for dancing girls, free beer and apparently David Lee Travis.  (Don't blame me for the last one...)

It's also the former default theme of the most hated operating system in the world, but hey, as long the structure remains full of air and not water, then the punters should be happy.
