Where I live there is not a disable accommodated club for sailing. I have a c4/5 injury and live near a lake. I have familiarized myself with a lot of the equipment out there and expect to jump in when the weather warms up. I'm unsure what to do next. Any advice.? Any feedback is welcomed. Has anyone converted a Hobie trimaran? How hard is it to pull a line for setting and turning a sail?

The RYA should have information about what clubs can help you, and about what boats are available for different disabilities.
We have a sailor at Whitefriars who uses a servo for the mainsheet in an access dinghy, so anything is possible. Where are you based? |

I'm located inland Kentucky USA. These posts are great and I thank you all. I have some arm use and it would seem to me I would fall some where between electronic and manual use for the sails. Furthermore if I should be looking for a boat, would I start simple to get my barrings then to a boat that offers more technical finer tuning and sails? Thanks for the help.

Ah, the other side of the Atlantic. US Sailing should be the port of call, not the RYA, and now I can see why there might not be a club near you. The technology should be the same, though.

Grafham sailibility in the uk uses a hobie trimaran for some of the disabled sailors. I don't think any mods have been made though. "Winging it" will know more...
