The sailing event of 2014 takes place on 21st September, Bart's Bash is aiming to break a world record or two in memory of Andrew Simpson.

We're doing it at Hunts.  Club racing usually starts at 11.30, but for this we're holding a special race at 11.00am.  The lake could get busy!

Remarkably complicated way of working out results... I would have taken the average corrected time for each single race/course and converted all corrected times to percentages, then awarded the prizes on the basis of lowest percentage (= sailor who beat the average at his race by the most. Sure it could be gamed, but what can't.

I couldn't care less where I finish in this race. Entering, taking part, raising money and remembering Bart are the important bits.

You might as well just hold it at 1130 as a club race hadn't you?

Exactly, which is why I would have picked a much easier way to work it out than having to measure course length with GPS and creating a common handicap system for every entrant.

Seems to me that it will be pretty hard for most clubs to get an accurate measurement, if they can get one at all.
