That sunshine has been photoshopped in! The boats are looking good though. A nigh on vertical learning curve for me but loving the boat. You can't dither about in it, you have to be almost aggressive within, plus very quick to counteract the power in the main and those battens. The Brits are being really helpful too. A charter boat isn't ideal - it needs small fixes you wouldn't leave undone in your own boat, but it does show what you need when you get one of your own.
the same, but different...

Was just about to post the same Link Tim.  More to the point the Europeans are confirmed UK bound this year!  Early signs show we have commitment from 6 countries and 50+ boats! Its going to be EPIC!  Not sailed at Brightlingsea before so looking forward to it!

Why do people still get moist at the sight of clear coated carbon weave? Hell, you buy some vinyl in Halfords that'll look pretty much the same.

Umm because its still quite rare in the dinghy world and its a blue clear coat on top of the weave, other than the Finn name another dinghy with that option?  Also its hardly a vinyl sticker is it Al it would look Nothing like the same.

Anything positive to day anyway?

Coloured clear Gel coat?  i though it was clear showing an arrow weave fabric?  Can you get it coloured?  Not sure there is much carbon in the Hartly Osprey any way.

Its amazing that the Finish of the boat rather than the fact that the Europeans are in the Uk is the point of discussion anyway!!!!

Is it? Most of us won't be at the D1 Euros, but we can all discuss/argue about how pretty a foredeck is.

Pesonally, I loved them when they first came out on the Finn, but they are a little 2008 now...

50 boats at the Europeans in the UK will be a hell of an achievement for a relatively new class.  And if Brightlingsea delivers you'll love it... it will suit your style of sailing as it's short chop, wind swell favouring some aggressive helming- hopefully you'll get wind over tide to make the most of the downwind sections in the lumps.

Given the time of year, there's nothing really much more you could hope for, it's sea breeze season and that club are top notch hosts for these kind of championships... good luck and see you around sometime.

Jimbo

As for the colour deck... nice interpretation on a theme, slightly dated for the UK imho... we've kind of done 'cosmetic carbon' foredecks already, but no doubt it will appeal to some other markets- and it's totally optional, not like an optional extra that then became the default production.

FWIW I prefer the subtlety of Devoti's finn embedded graphics... see the Suntouched used Finn section for a lovely, lovely example in blue.  Not that you guys have that much space to play with compared to the Finn... for their sins, someone felt the need to cut a hole in it and put a kite sock down it, such a shame.   Wink
