Make sure you find the right adhesive, had to do mine 3 times, NB its not Sikaflex !! If i remember rightly I had to shape the gasket as well.

Yes boat is so wide that out flat means no one can walk around it and kids bikes get in the way. On edge gives a bit of room. Need a bigger garage really!! Thank god I don't have a Merlin.
It's my slot gasket since new but my last one was never really right as I started getting water up through slot in certain conditions so having another go. Just need a decent contact adhesive. Any recommendations other than the one sold at RS which they are currently out of stock.
Cheers, Keith

Tell RS to pull their fingers out!

Their glue is fine - but getting the mix right is hilarious. The glue comes in weight, the catalyst by volume and they don't tell give you a usable ratio for the mix, units being all over the place. But generally, I've found it works nicely regardless of the guessing going on.

Advantage of the RS supplied glue is that when you do the next one, the old stuff comes of nicely with a really sharp chisel then acetone to get rid of the rest.

They also pre-shape the gasket and make then masking-tape the central cut, so it goes on in one piece. Peel of the masking tape and voila.

Final tip- Always tie up the plate after sailing and definitely when towing. The board does not then fall down and distort the gasket when you are not sailing.

Make sure the garage is a sensible temperature too

Thixofix has worked fine for me.  Key is in preperation, be obsessive about getting the old stuff off, the surface is clean and ready and making sure the gasket is cut right, you want it to go right first time, not be peeling it up and re-applying a few times, IMO, to get the right 'finish'.

Hi
Mind what you mix the 2 part RS adhesive in, I picked the wrong pot and ended up with glue all over me and the hull. Glass would be good.
Just had enough left to fix the slot gasket.
I have used Thixofix in the past and is fine but as has been said good prep work needed.

Back in stock now! I would use the stuff we sell it is really good if you do it right, just make sure the glue is properly touch dry before you put the two sides together: my understanding is that it uses an activator rather than a catalyst so the proportions are not critical, but the activator makes the solvents that keep the glue liquid evaporate, and if you put the two sides together before they have all gone they get trapped and can't escape so it never dries. I use a paper vending cup 1/3 to 1/2 full of glue and a cap or a cap and a half of activator. Keep the rest, it has a shelf life but should last a season or so.

RS100 owners may wish to look at the numbers of races in the new PY table which gives a good indication of the relative activity of different classes.

yep - just goes to show how important that initial sales push is.... get the boats out there and the after market will develop, driving usage up.

It's interesting to note that you pick up an RS100 for 4.5k off apollo duck right now (assuming you don't haggle a bit, so let's say sub 4 grand with a hard driven bargain).  Compare that to the other option- only one on there, best part of 8 grand, but at least 4g less than the reported new price.

dinghies.... they're expensive toys really.
