I note the space available to the 400 has already been reduced from a "few feet" to a "couple of feet" in the space of two posts ...  any more and we will be down to inches ...

Also ... it is not clear how many turns the Alto did as he hit both the 400 & committee boat ...

You have to get that out of your head.   Without dispute, 100 + boats & crews had a great weekend of racing at a great venue.   The very, very  vast majority sail within the rules, stay out of trouble and enjoy the experience of racing a "big fleet"; whatever it may throw at them.

Ermm, sorry, this has nothing to do with location whatsoever. We (DWSC) would have been more than happy to have heard any protests put in front of us. As it was, none came.

I think that Ben, the event winner, summed it up well in the race report when he suggested one of the reasons he was quick as being:

"Keeping my nose clean when passing other boats. It pays to give slower boats a wide berth when overtaking where at all possible. Cutting it too close can lead to luffing and other adverse tactics so I just try to avoid confrontation"

All this makes me wonder whether I bother doing any of the SailJuice events (as a winter series newbie) as it is quite clear people are happy to flaunt the rules and not take things to the protest room...it's why it is there. At the very least people need to have the discussion in the boat park and get facts clear and retire if necessary...again if it isn't a clear cut argument then take it to the room.

I hope this is just a localised issue and doesn't happen at Datchet!

Well I dug the 49er out and went dinghy sailing on a Sunday for the first time in years. Really enjoyed it, even if our comedy handicap (on an old rig boat) and slightly dodgy sailing did ensure we were basically just racing to avoid DFL! (regular crew Tom was PRO, and Simon and I have not sailed anything without a keel together for years!)

Hats off to the Chris, Tom and the OD team...ok so these guys are my mates but volunteering to run an event like that with the pressure and expectations of accurate results is not something to be taken lightly.  Fair play chaps...a great event and thanks very much for running it, and to the sailors for attending.

you might need something stronger....

fisticuffs on the start line at the Stevie Nicks.
Bungee tampering at the Bloody Mary.
A Lancastrian sticking a hornet's nest at The Brass Monkey with some inappropriate 'racist' comments.
I won't spill the beans on The Tiger, but it involves two girls, one cup and a new production catamaran

really, 'The Draycote Dinghy Ding' is only a small introduction to what's in store this year....

I am a bit disappointed that all we have so far is a bit of handbags at dawn. Still, there are plenty of winter events to go for such crimes as sailing made from the wrong cloth, customized sail numbers and mistaken identity rudders to cause hundreds of pages of outrage from people who weren't actually there.

I shall make my cocoa, pull up a chair and wait with baited breath.

That'll be Alan Johnson sailing the boat I think he won the Ent Nats in as far back as 1979.
