Hi Blue One,

Unless it's me having another 'senior moment', the results for the Pursuit Race, appear to be incorrect. Just looking at the top twenty, there are no results shown for the following placings - 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 (all odd numbers).  The top twenty 'even numbered' placings are all shown.  I don't really understand why results are published when they are wrong or incomplete, it's just confusing for everyone. No doubt there will be corrections made later.

I would guess it's a double counter non dis-cardable (without reading anything)
Scorpion 2 pts would of won

Spotting scoring errors is quite an art, and its about three times as difficult with an open event when you don't know the competitors. Its also something that's a hell of a lot easier to do at home in a quiet room on your own PC than it is in a noisy clubhouse with all the hubbub of an event going on and pressure to deliver the results in time for the first person who wants to go home... I've done a bit of it, but never for an event with as many entries as this. You just do the best you can...

Hi Alex,

Yes you are right, I never thought of that - like I said a 'senior moment'.

19.2 The pursuit race is non discardable and counts for double points.

I assumed that these palaces were taken by draycote members that had only done the pursuit and were not signed on for the whole event. I just didn't know why they were not listed.
Did not even think about about the double point thing. Embarrassed

Results as published now are correct as far as I know.

We published preliminary results online last night as by the time we were done, most people had left the club. OD team were ashore after the last race at about 3:45-4pm and I think we published first preliminary results at 5:45 so there was a bit of a delay. We put the preliminary results online so that people had been able to have a look and we had a chance of correcting any errors before the prize giving.

The various issues people spotted overnight were corrected, and I had a few more approach me at the event. Apart from the topper where I'd put a colon in the wrong place when typing the time in I think all were a lap counting issue which were solved by looking over the three sets of results we had for each race (two scribes in main committee boat, one in the line boat), or listening back to the dictaphones we had running on each boat or then watching the video back as each finish was also filmed.

As others have said the pursuit is double points so there are no odd positions, this is correct.

As I said before I'm really proud of the team who helped me get the results out quickly and accurately. We had over 95 boats crossing one line in 4 races yesterday, and over 100 in the pursuit today including club boats. We had to record class, sail numbers and time for each finisher. There were some errors, yes, but nothing major, hopefully the competitors understood what a task it was and any queries were looked at and amended if valid.

Anyway, I really do hope everyone enjoyed the event, I was quite jealous, the sailing looked great with some fun battles going on right the way through the fleet. Hopefully I'll be able to get to some of the other winter events and be a bit more relaxed, so may see some of you there.

Chris

Well done Chris- I know one person who travelled who's told me the event was excellent and the club very welcoming, sounds like you did us all proud!

Glad it all went well Chris. We had some friends doing the event and they had a great time.
It had crossed my mind to do the dash, but the thought of doing four races back to back is a no no. LOL
