Golf handicaps is like racing Lasers using personal handicaps.Different to PY racing. PY racing is the fairest in one sense, but because boat performance isn't linear, in reality is far less fair than class racing, especially as most boats have things called sail controls, so you can adjust the amount of power the boat is producing.

I think gfr's vision could only be achieved if we all sailed lasers wearing fat suits and stilts so we are equalised to be 18 stone and 6'4" ....

GRF's vision is an Icon with a kite that can be either Assymettric or Symettric depending on the course.
Either one specially designed to work that way using either the front pole or the dangle pole, or two kites to choose from. That's GRF's current vision. |

But you will have no one to race against. A one off like that will not a have a PY so you won't be able to enter any events.

If you don't want one - well fine. If you don't want to even try one ... er why ? and if you don't want one and don't even want to try one ..... just why are you really this interested ? Believe it or not people have free choice for some of their alloted time and amazingly some really do what they want rather than what others think they should do. If you want a standard package holiday, a main brand car or a 'big brand' burger, eat steak well done and you always buy M&S shreddies that is your choice .. so what is the problem with others who want something slightly different ? This sort of stuff surely cannot challenge the world order ! (for that you should have tried board racing in the day  )It cannot challenge your own outlook either unless you let it. I'm sure you will survive when some others choose to sail Icons or even variants ... or anything else out there for that matter ... so what is bugging you man ? .... Chill ! Mike L. Icon looks a nice bit of kit ... Don't understand why someone would buy one and put a kite and trapeze on it ... Thinking that in some way improves it.
