Thanks Martin, first reaction is that it looks very similar to the Solution (not necessarily a bad thing). Can the rig be adjusted fore and aft whilst sailing?

Don't know what I expected but thats not it, but then equally I suppose its literally a more modern laser. Will be interesting to see how it goes. Out of interest what kind of size is the main?

Having looked closer (eye sight not what it was), I can't see any shrouds so I guess the answer to my question is no. With the mast stepped that far forward my guess (I have not seen or sailed the boat so this is definitely a guess) is it would be a handful upwind in a bit of breeze? The sailor in the 2nd photo is sitting a long way back in what only looks like medium winds on a reach, so I would be concerned about high wind performance. Other than that, I think it looks good.

Like the stern design - as you say, the rest needs some thought!
Like the concept, too, assuming it isn't going to need huge amounts of grunt to hold it flat. Apart from being by RS and being light weight, what will it have over existing designs, from Laser to Solo to Supernova? A very crowded market place. Mind, apart from the Laser, none have made it to the beach holiday market place, so I guess private sales would be the icing on the cake, and driven by the returning holiday market. I can imagine sailing one off a beach in the med! |

Hmmm, thinking it looks a bit like a D-one without the Kite or wings. Hopefully a relatively narrow boat...

Theres something somewhat ugly about the geometry of that rig. The angle of the boom probably... It doesnt quite do the skiff style upwards rake or the laser deck sweeping thing....
My other comment would be that the mainsheet system looks pretty crappy... On an una rigged boat like this I really favour the aft mainsheet system as on the 100, 200, laser etc. What is the thinking behind this rather inefficient system which clutters up the cockpit? Also, do you have a target price for the boat, I still believe this is the most important factor for a new one design in the current market.

Ooh, I quite like that (lake boat mode) I like that all the rope and wheel things are right up front, so you don't have to go back down the back and up front again every time you tack. That'll also make clew first sailing easier without all that extra rope off the back.
Might increase sheet loads a bit and have all the pussy boys whining about their tired arms, although it doesn't look that massive a rig in the picture, can only be around 8, 8 and a half ? Then didn't I read there was a choice of mid size rig for us normal weight folk (sub 70 kgs). Boom looks like it will still smack me around the head about as regularly as the EPS one does, so helmet still required. Long clew low aspect will have it going to wind OK, in fact I bet it'll murder the 100 upwind and it looks like it won't be too difficult to get back in, should one er fall out, which one is prone to now and again.. ![]() No, all in all, I think with any luck it'll do what the Solution failed to, due presumably to lack of waterline length. (Not sure of this, never seen one on the water, always liked them but never read anything positive about their performance versus the Laser). I should think, though that RaSer should give a Laser a run for it's money though, if only with the more volume better floatation factor, particularly inland, as long as they don't get the foil wrong. Presumably to avoid the major annoyance of the Laser of getting the mainsheet hooked round the transom on every gybe.

That only happens on lasers! Might be worth trying it with an aft bridle and then along the boom for boom sheeting, or down to the cockpit where it is now. |

Not sure about the single toe strap? Isn't the boat a bit wide for that?
