Self draining

   Hi, I have just purchased a Laser 16, the previous owner never sailed it and the boat hasn't got the fitting for self draining? It's got two 1 1/2" holes with no fittings? Anyone know where I can get them and how do they work?

	I wouldn't be surprised if that was it ! You just need 2 bungs for the holes when you are sub planing speeds to stop the boat filling up, then open, pull out one bung or two depending on how much water needs to be sucked out by the Venturi effect. I'll be shown up now by someone telling me where to buy a round bailer

	thanks for that, there are two 11/2" holes, there needs to be something in there?

	Do you mean the holes in the transom? If so, it looks as if they get covered with a mylar sheet. The flap is simply there to stop water sloshing back into the boat while it is draining. 	Its almost certainly going to be a standard component from whoever did the spars. Are there any manufacturers badges on the mast? It looks from a rigging manual I found on line as if it might be a proctor/Selden mast in which case the fitting ought to be reasonably available. Edited by JimC - 30 Sep 13 at 8:10pm

	No manufacture markings. If I knew the maker I would contact them, I know this model is not made any more, it's about 12 years old approx.

	Northampton Sailboats do spares for a wide range of Lasers, some of them old and discontinued. They don't have the 16 listed but they may be able to help directly or perhaps point you in the right direction. http://www.sailboats.co.uk/
