I wouldn't be surprised if the lack of depth in the bow of the Fireball has a bearing on things. No point in having a chute if you can't make it big enough for your kite to drop in with ease.

Its not a lack of depth in the Furball - there's more there than appearances would suggest. Its just the 'shovel' nature of the bow. I've never found sailing about with a boat full of water particularly fast or rewarding.

Apart from always having the kite on the correct side of the boat (ie the very front side!) ....
..with a well sorted chute and self launching pole (see the twin pole systems on the fanciest 5o5s and Merlins, and even the single self launchers on Ospreys and Javelins) you can get the kite up and down without spending much time at the front of the boat. This is a blessing in big waves with the wind howling up your stern.
Saw a Javelin pitch pole once (one without a pole launcher); quite a sight. If the rules say you have to have a manual pole, then it's moot ... you have to go up front anyway. Edited by NickA - 13 Sep 13 at 8:37pm |

It's more likely a lack of depth in this forum's members - there is less there than appearances would suggest...

What could possibly go wrong?

A bags make scense for a low lying boat as a boat like a fireball with a shute will collect a lot of water so its makes scence to have bags i would say really does depend what boat chutes can be quicker
