Why this radial bashing in favour of your personal choice for an Olympic slot? The Olympic slot does not always benefit a class or its existing owners.
Be careful what you wish for ...

No, you'd get hammered. You need to add 5 KG to that at least.

Their scales were broken, I simply don't believe those weights. I've stood next to most of those girls and they're bigger than me. I'm 72 Kg.

Indeed. If we are really concerned that certain weight/gender groups are not well catered for at a high level, the route to addressing that is probably ISAF rather than IOC. But between Tera, Topper, 4.7, Radial, Europe isn't there a reasonable range of classes offering most sizes and ages of female a high level of international competition? Classes where if you win a nationals or better still european event, you deserve some serious respect. ( I suspect for Oz, the byte would be in that list?) Or is there a huge pool of talent forced into 2 person boats because they have no singlehander offering enough competition? It's the same for everyone, if you want to sail against the best people, (and you can use your own def'n of 'best') you have to bear that in mind when you choose a class. They aren't going to come to you. |

It was a 1970 car, very early. Masai Red with cream plastic seats and a 'wash through' interior. Very pretty I agree. It would have looked good towing a Contender. However at about 12 mpg and no power steering it did not last long. Luckily Rover realised the errors in the original design and rectified them.......unlike some boat manufacturers.

Nope- he's just not old enough to know that breasts and a good ass don't weigh as much as muscle, nor do women's internal organs weigh as much as mens, therefore despite appearing to have the same v'olume' as a small man or pubescent boy, women tend to weigh less then men.
Failing that, the BBC are in cohorts with the IOC to deliberately misrepresent the competitive weight band of the Laser Radial and it's all a conspiracy masterminded by that Iranian with his agressive tones in email dialogues. |

Or, I do, and I've factored that in to my judgement. Who do you think think knows what the competitive weight for a radial is, current competitive radial sailors or you? You going to tell me this chap is 65 kilos? Are you also going to tell me he didn't win: A worlds where half the races were abandoned due to no wind. A worlds where all the races were sailed in 20 knots + Obviously I don't know what I'm talking about, so everyone should listen to yellowwelly, the old man who sails a solo and throws insults round on web forums to boost his self esteem. ![]() Edited by bustinben - 10 Sep 13 at 7:41pm |

Male or female Radial sailors? I'm quite sure the best weight will be different. Its very counter intuitive, but neverless the case. Its because, in a weight sensitive boat siled without handicaps, there are considerable advantages in being at the mean weight for the fleet, not the weight that might make for the lowest total finish times. |
