Regarding an earlier topic about 'how big you need to be in order to be competitive in a Radial' Annalise Murphy is 6' 1" and 72 kilos. Now we have 5 active female sailors at our club all fit girls and I bet none of them are above 60 kilos or 5' 7".

That is why the Radial is a sh*t boat for girls Olympics. Only amazons need apply. There is an alternative......and you all know what that is!

In Olympic Boxing imagine if we had just boys and girls...that's it boys and girls any weight. Nonsense but we do it in sailing.

Make it fair, more single handed classes. More classes for ordinary people.

Oh, by the way. Congratulations Annalise on your European Gold Medal. This is in no way personal.

Shortarses can always do a different athletic sport - there are plenty to choose from at the Olympics. Mind, helming a 470 takes a small person, so the alternative is there. No idea what the weights are like for the baby49er. But suspect fairly hefty, and the same for the cat.

That is a good point of course but if you are a track and field athlete there are alternatives for the average fit person. Those whose physical form or disability separates them from the norm have the paralympics but we are talking average fit women here. High jumping is a sport for tall people by its very definition, sailing should be a sport for ordinary people. Its like saying boxers have to be giants.

And if a girl of 5'4" weighing 56kg won it, you'd be complaining that there was nothing out there for 6'1" 72kg female sailors!

We've got what we've got, get over it!

You can still do the high jump if you're an "ordinary person" just like you can do sailing.  Though it's unlikely you'll win any high jump events, unless you're extremely talented and that you have a physique that suits.
Sailing is exactly the same, to win you have to have the talent and for most boats I would say there's an optimum weight/physique.  Having that optimum physique can help you win, if you have the talent!
If you know you don't fit the model physique for a class of boat, you have to accept that your opportunities for success may be limited, but you can still sail for fun.
Or as Rupert says you "can always do a different athletic sport - there are plenty to choose from at the Olympics".
