I have owned a full force carbon 600ff for almost a year now but up to nw have only blasting it around, not racing. Following another pretty poor effort in the Musto National have decided to race the 600ff but can't get it to sail upwind effectively. I feel pretty competent in the boat. My problem seems to be that I am not getting enough lift from the rudder foil, but when I increase the lift on the tiller extension it just drives the nose down. I find myself standing well back initially to get lift then working forwards. I have seen video's where the helm is sensibly positioned and gets equal lift from the front and rear foil. Are there any measurable settings for foil angles and any suggestions please. Thanks Richard

You need to pin Gareth down! He will have the knowledge on what to do as he did it before buying the moth! He is getting a bit old but fairly sure his memory isnt that bad! ![]() |

Thanks Guy's. I guess its time to dip my toe in the world of Faceache, sorry, book. I've avoided it for many years, but nothings more important than a bit of dinghy tuning so here goes!!
Hopefully I will cross pathes with Gareth soon but think he is sailing from Blackwater now. |

Hi Jason,
I found the information on Matt's face book page really useful. My rudder angle was well out and when adjusted have much closer to equal lift. I still don't point well but on looking at old photo's of the foiling 600's I don't think anyone got them to point properly. The foiler is out of action at present. Front foil came out of water at high speed in waves. When the boat crashed I was thrown off the wing and hit the forestay so hard it loaded the rig and snapped a shroud resulting in a mess I haven't sorted yet. I am sailing the Musto at the moment and am planning to do the inlands. I have also bought an RS500, sailing with my daughter which I'm really enjoying. Hope to see you at the inlands, Rich |

I've just held an RS600 main foil this afternoon. How heavy are they, it feels like they're made of lead!

Not sure how heavy they are, but they are surprisingly heavy. They are however incredibly robust, as is the rest of the boat. Don't understand the soft as lead comment as they are full carbon? Do you mean the standard RS600 centreboard. If so the early ones were ridiculously heavy and were soon modified to be much lighter, personally I never had issues with softness. The only damage that prevented me from sailing my foiler again after the mast fell down was a broken wand mechanism caused by the rescue boat rubbing against it.
