And they wont let us go and play in the waves.... Even though we were supposed to be sailing on the "same water as for the Olympics".
They wont take us outof the harbour.......
Not what we paid for

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure we saw 470s racing on Portland Harbour when we were watching the RS:X medal races on the Nothe course.

Fair enough but if we had a pole about what consituted "Olympic wsters" I think your pushing the advertising to suggest that you would ONLY be inside the harbour.

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your day.

Day 1 of SailFest saw robust conditions,  with winds gusting 20 kts.  We had a large and varied fleet, from several World Champions through to newbies.  Also a massive spread of classes Topper to top International 14.  There were numerous capsizes,  rescues and gear failures.

It would have taken considerable time to get the fleet out and back to Weymouth Bay.  This would have meant you would have been on the water for all day and probably into the evening;  the objective of SailFest was to allow people to race and socialise across a wide range of classes.

We had several broken boats who came in between races,  fixed things and went back out for the next start -  this would have been impossible if you were racing several miles away from WPNSA.

Well we had an absolute blast! Race management was ace, conditions fantastic and good close racing in the spinnaker fleet.
I believe we're due to go round the bay on Monday?

Big winds and robust conditions in the harbour for Day 2 of GJW SailFest -  Race 6 and final one of the day just finished with around half the fleet retiring

Fleet coming ashore for video debrief and boat prep workshop with Richard Woof,  although judging by the amount of damaged gear arriving on the slipway could turn into a boat repair session.

Tomorrow is the Raymarine Pursuit Race with three electronic compasses to be won,  and lots of other prizes across the fleet.

Yes great racing today. LOTS of wind and some very impressive Fireball and I14 sailing.   Plenty of , very fast 2-sail reaching too which makes a great change from windward leeward.

Sadly the results are still in total disarray - we had to tell THEM how many laps we had done when signing off, this despite all the boats being GPS tracked (not that we've seen any of the GPS data yet).

Pursuit race tomorrow (restricted to the harbour again unfortunately) - hope the wind holds out.
